Help needed Z axis problem
Hi Guys
First sorry for not speaking german.
I'm getting desperate here in Copenhagen.
I have now had my stepcraft 600 for 3 weeks without getting any output.
My problem seem to be the Z axis.
Saving to xyz zero, puts the machine in 0,0,-10 and the z axis is move 10 mm upwards.
All g-code goes from 0 to minus so it routes in mid air above to material.
how do I setup the WinPC-NC software to mach this
best regards

Hi Vincents,
the move up to -10 after saving Z zero is absolutly correct. This is the safety height, in german called "Sicherheitsabstand". You will find this under Parameter.
If you start your cnc-program after saving Z Zero, the machine will move down to Z Zero again and your program will run correct.

Thanks Eon
I do understand it has a safety distance upwards,
the problem is that all my g-code is minus, like this:
G90
G0Z1.0000
T1 *End Mill (3 mm)*
G0X0.0000Y0.0000Z1.0000
G0X-2.6014Y-7.8756Z1.0000
G1X-2.6014Y-7.8756Z-1.0000F300.0
G1X1.2550Y-7.8756F1200.0
G1X1.3243Y-7.8490
G1X1.4024Y-7.8217
G1X1.6440Y-7.7291
G1X1.7639Y-7.6892
G1X1.8420Y-7.6619
I use the cut3d software, bu t have tried others with same result.

Maybe you have to set the 'invert z' Button in winpc. Sorry i am Not in the Office so i can't sent a picture
Ehemals Stepcraft 420/1 jetzt High-Z S1000-T
WinPC-USB / ESTLCam9 / TENADO CAD 3D V15
I don't know cut3d, so it is difficult to answer. If you use Estlcam you have to check "turn arround Z-axis" that it works correctly with WinPC. Otherwise try to invert Z in WinPC for DIN/ISO

Thanks Guys
Inverting the Z axis is NOT recomendable! The safe position will be 10 mm into the material.
I downloaded Estlcam and have now made a fine cut: a round hole 😛 😛
Still I cant believe that the stepcraft 600 can not use standard software.
Can one of you Please show me your parameter settings ?
Mine is in Picture 1 and 2

You need to make sure the software material is setup so the z axis zero is onto of the material, then manually reset z zero in Ucnc with the tool piece touching the workpiece so both zeros match
