Is it possible to run UCCNC in inch mode(G20), rather than metric mode(G21)?
I am in the US and already own Mastercam software, I want to produce my nc code in inch units, but I can't find anything in the UCCNC configuration to allow this.
I thought I'd create a new profile and tinker with the stepper settings to get what I want, but apparently Stepcraft's supplied version of UCCNC won't allow you to save a new profile. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

The default profile is write protected.

So store your new profile with a different name or remove the write protection in Windows.

Please read manual page 40: UCCNC

... If the "Create shortcut on desktop" checkbox was selected
then a shortcut icon with the profile name will be also created and will be placed on the desktop...

Thanks for the reply DocBrown. I don't understand what you mean by the profile being write protected. What I attempted was entering a new profile name in the Profile Name textfield and clicking on the Create a new profile icon.
When I did so, I received the message "The Profile Name textfield is empty The profile was not created". I had clearly entered text into that field, but it gets blanked out upon clicking the "Creat new profile" icon.
I am logged on as an administrator & have read/write priveledges for the Stepcraft2_Model840.pro file.
I was able to copy the profile and it's macro folder, then save them with the new name that I want for the new profile (Stepcraft2_Inch). Then I loaded that profile and ran the Stepcraft logo program, to see if it fuctions correctly. I got the proper X,Y & Z movement, but no spindle output from my spindle controller.

OK, thought you tried to save a change with the default profile name. The default profile is write protected.
So let me try this evening and give feedback if I have the same problem.

So no problem here. I have generated a new profile named “Radford-Tests”.
Using a parameter like this you can start UCCNC directly with the specific profile:
C:UCCNCUCCNC.exe /p Stepcraft2_Model420

That's odd. I wonder why my seat won't read what I enter in the field.

I see that you already asked this question on another thread:

https://www.stepcraft-systems.com/en/forum/operation/4541-imperial-inch-mode

I replied...

"Check the UCCNC user manual Section 4.1 to see if the G20 code is supported.

http://www.cncdrive.com/UCCNC/UCCNC_usersmanual.pdf

It jumps from G19 to G28 so it doesn't look like it. I noticed UCCNC telling me that G21 was unsupported recently so it might return an error message in any case.

UCCNC does not support G20/G21 modes. The machine setup units must match the g-code units. If you 2want to run both inch and metric code, you should set up two profiles.
The problem with the Profile Name was that you need to hit the ENTER key after typing in the profile name.
