Creating V1.2xxx profile from V1.1xxx
Hi
I'm about to update from UCCNC V1.1027 to V1.2xxx, and it is suggested somewhere that a new machine profile be created from the V1.2 default rather than use the old 1.1xxx profile.
I have done a line by line check of the two default profiles, and as far as I can see the only differences are in "Messages" and the absence of the [Macroloops] section at the end. Everything else appears identical.
I'm going to cut and paste the V1.2 "Messages" section into a copy of my working V1.1 profile, and edit out the [Macroloops] section. Hope this works - it will save an enormous amount of time and hopefully avoid any typo errors.

There is no problem, however simple, that cannot be made more complicated by thinking about it.
They should transfer over fine Peter.
you should not have to make new ones. But as ever - careful.
We have profiles for V1.2 if you need help
Thanks Rory - did as you suggest and everything works fine once the transferred profile is loaded - BUT - can't save it to be used at next fresh load of UCCNC.
The sequence was:-
1 ) load UCCNC.
2 ) select config - profile
3 ) highlight correct SC420 profile if not already done by default
4 ) [load] new profile and check that Z hotkey works (my profile uses Z to zero machine - so I know it's loaded)
5 ) [save] it - except it doesn't!!
6 ) exit UCCNC
7 ) back to 1)
8 ) swear at it when screen shows default profile still loaded!!

As I remember you need to save a modified profile using a new profile-name. So you cannot save a default profile with changes. It´s a long time ago when I did my last changes, so I´m not sure about this.
Then next time when starting UCCNC you need to start it with parameters like:
C:UCCNCUCCNC.exe /p Stepcraft2_Model420

Thanks Hartmut,
I'd forgotten about the " /p abcde " to load other than default. I'll edit the UCCNC screen icon paraeters to include my V1.1027 profile, that should solve the annoyance. Like you, my V2 profile has been stable for months now.
Peter.

Sanity restored!! Manually added "/p abcde" and it all works as expected.
It seems a new profile has to be created within UCCNC to get the " /p abcde" added to the icon parameters - just selecting another profile that has been copied into the profiles directory and then selecting "save" does not automatically create the correct target string in the shortcut icon.
We live and learn!!

Hi Peter,
when you are making new changes and new profiles the best method is as follows.
>>config
>>profiles
>>list profiles
>>load older profile from list
>>check all works etc..
then create a new profile
>>click in the white box in the profiles window and type in thename of profile "Peters Steppi" and once types CLICK ENTER KEY to log the change (this is a safety feature. you have to hit enter to load the data into the text fiels)
>>click the create shortcut on desktop
>>create new profile
