Cross laser and UCCNC.
To find zero with a cross laser is easy in UCCNC.
I bought my cross laser with holder cheap on ebay from China.
I put this code into one of the M200, M201 or M202 profiles.
M200 -> P1 screen button
M201 -> P2 screen button
M202 - > P3 screen button
// Macro for Laser Crosshair offsetting double Xmove = -47.575 ; // X offset value double Ymove = 5.25 ; // Y offset value exec.Code("G91- X"+Xmove +" Y"+Ymove) ; while(exec.IsMoving()){} exec.Code( "G90" ) ; exec.Callbutton(100); exec.Callbutton(101);
Change X and Y to the distans in the code to set the cross laser to the tool.
double Xmove = -47.575 ; // X offset value
double Ymove = 5.25 ; // Y offset value
I changed the screen buttons too.
gotopark2... goes for P2 screen button. Rename for P1 or P2 screen buttons.

Currently I have only secured it with double-sided tape.

To use the macro in UCCNC is easy as 123...
- Jog the machine so the cross laser points to your zero-point.
- Press "Zero All" screen button.
- Press "Cross laser" screen button.
In my exempel I have the macro in M201 and this will activate P2 screen button.

Hello Mika and averybody, who is interested.
First tries look not soooo bad....
I tried two positions, the one, I´ve posted above as an addon tool and a position as a steady adapted tool in front. At the moment I prefer the version as a stand alone tool, I´ll gonna put some batteryholder and a switch on it....
Pics? Of course....

@ThomasDbg
Interesting solutions, but I prefer to avoid changing the laser and the spindle.
I'm guessing that your two options are like my idea.

This is what it looks like with the cross laser.
I also have a switch so I can turn off and turn on the cross laser.

Thank you for this nice and easy-to-build idea...
I have designed another 3d printed laser mount with a "click-on" design in case someone is interested, you can find it attached here or on Thingiverse:

I have credited the original idea there, but please let me know in case I missed something.
Best,
Sven
Thanks! This generally worked for me.
I did have some questions/ideas though.
1. is there some way that if I use this command (I set to P1) that I can add something to the script to do the zero of X and Y for me? I don't mean the difference between G91 and G90 or I think I also don't mean G28. I have to press "zero all" or press the buttons to zero x and zero y manually before and after I use this command.
2. How did you change the button images (pressed and not pressed)?
3. what's the way to get this to move slower? It's not moving far, but I still would like it to go slower I guess. : )
4. what were those last two lines of your gcode for? 100 and 101 or something?
Thanks!

@eradicatore,
It was 6 years ago I made the macro, and today my memory is not what it use to be after an accident, but I try my best for you.
I'm happy that the macro helped you on the way.
1. Yes, I guess there must be a way to add som extra lines gcode, but that was nothing I cared about due it was so easy to press "Zero All" button.
2. I made the buttons in Photoshop.
3. If I'm not totally wrong, this speed is changed in the macro M31.txt. If you change this macro you change other jogging as using this speed as well.
4. I don't remember this unfortunately. Maby some one other could jump in and explain.
I hope I answered your questions best of their ability, otherwise you can of course ask again..

Thanks for the reply. I got the button replaced, that was just putting these images in the right folder (there were about 5 folders that looked the same and of course it was the last one I tried!).
I agree, easy to just do this zero all stuff by hand. I didn't see some fancier way to just add that yet, and gave up.
I have no clue what you were doing with those last two lines, but no worries. They appear unrequired.
The speed of the jogging is fine also. It's a small jog. 🙂
Thanks again for sharing. Funny how 6 years go by and this was still the best example of how to add this laser stuff.
