Frage HF Spindle 500 bearings

Please I would like to know if anybody have experience replacing the bearings on the HF spindle 500 motor, my is making some
noise and am certain it is from the bearings. I did a search on the net but I didn't find anything , to any advise will be appreciated

Hello Olivier, unfortunately I didn’t get any positive help from STEPCRAFT they tell me to send the motor back to them, and I told them it is very impractical, am based in South Africa and just the cost of shipping doesn’t justify, further more when the goods come back here I must pay taxes ,but looks like service support it is not their priority.
What they did is to fit a Hacker motor in their own casing, Hacker can assist with they products ,but not with the STEPCRAFT.

If you are mechanical minded it is not impossible just to have the correct tools and the most critical is the bottom cover with 2 pin holes ( where the spindle is ), there are also some grub screws which hold the shaft and the access it is not very obvious.

I suggest to spray some contact cleaner inside the casing ( my was full of dust , even I am using the pump supplied by STEPCRAFT) I have some good improvement but I didn’t replace the bearings yet.
In the worst case I will replace the full motor for something more user friendly and cheaper, once again STEPCRAFT it is not the way to go.

the bearings and springs. When i come home i can give you some answer which Material and which tools you need to change the parts.

I have problems with strange noise coming from HF Spindle. I suspect that bearings went bad and I want to change them. Hopefuly that would solve problem. Can you help me with bearing replacements? Any tips on how to dissasemble HF Spindle? What tools did you use to replace bearings? If you can send me some pictures of whole action would be great.

here are some tips for you. if anybody not sure that he can fix it, should send it to stepcraft. i do not give any guarantee and Accept no liability for your work.
!!! do not open in the warranty period !!!

Step 1 open the fitting
Step 2 open the grub screw
Step 3 open the Cover with the 2 holes
Sometimes it helps to heat the lid a little with the hairdryer
Step 4 remove everything, including the grub screw
Step 5 remove the snap Ring
Step 6 clean all parts
Step 7 I apply a thin layer of copper paste
Step 8 build everything back in the same order.

I always put a small drop of Loctite on the grub screw and on the thread of the cover (with the 2 holes).

The ball bearing size is 15x28x7mm.
