I am new to all this - my Manager has just purchased a Stepcraft machine.

I have modelled a small part in Fusion 360 which has to be machined on both sides. How is the reference/datum point set/located for the first side? Then, when the part is turned over, how is the new datum point located?

I hope this makes sense!

Thanks
Ben

In Fusion 360, for the second side, you create a new setup, under the CNC/milling section. When creating a new setup, you can choose the Z-axis.

The trick is finding a way of ensuring the project is oriented correctly. Some people mill holes for pegs into a spoilboard, others simply work on ensuring it is square to the machine then zero on a clearly defined point. How you do this depends on your particular project and your preferences. There are lots of youtube videos on 2-sided milling strategies.
