Hi all,

I'd like to ask for some advice on milling carbon fiber. I have never touched any composites so am fairly unaware of potential issues. Has anyone done this?

I hear that the dust is pretty nasty so extraction is vital, what systems do you use? What about cutting tool, Im assuming a rasp will suffice. Also cutting speeds etc.

Any experience on anything like this would be greatly appreciated.

Kindest,
Alex

Dust is the devil here!!

can get good results with standard cutters. But you have to be careful you don't pull the fibre from the resin.

these guys were excellent... but not cheap.

I don`t have any experience with carbon fiber, but when I was looking for wood cutting tools I noticed spiral toothed and diamond toothed bits had carbon fiber mentioned in description. For example: http://www.sorotec.de/shop/Cutting-Tools/1-8--Shaft-Mill-Tools/
