New STEPCRAFT owner
Hello STEPCRAFT forum users.
My name is Doug, I am from Scotland, United Kingdom. I am an Operations Engineer at a nuclear power station but my university education was in Chemistry. I have just bought a STEPCRAFT 2/840 machine with fourth axis rotary table and HF500 spindle.
My software suite is:
- TurboCAD V19.2 Pro Platinum
- MeshCAM
- GWizard feeds & speeds calculator
- UCNC machine control software
I plan to use the machine to make electric solid and hollow body guitars (luthiery) starting with a Brian May Red Special replica for myself (see render below from my own CAD design). I have no previous experience in CAM or machine operation.
I am active on the following forums relating specifically to Brian May guitars, amplifiers and equipment:
http://www.redspecialforum.com/portal.php
http://rsbuildersassociation.freeforums.org/portal.php
I plan to take my time setting up the machine, tuning and testing it before making the final cuts but when I am ready, I will post up build comments, build information, videos, etc.
Regards.
Doug

Many thanks for the welcome Hartmut.
The other reason I have to take my time is that I work shifts and have two children so I don't get very much spare time to make or play guitars 🙁
I need to work overtime to pay for the machine and tools which reduces the available time even more!

HI Doug,
take your time. Better slowly and exact then fast and finally you have to re-assemble parts, find and remove problems.
I assembled my machine in 3 evenings ...I couldn't stop and wait... 😉
Good luck!
