Stepcraft-2/420 newbie from Sweden
Hi all,
I am Michael from Sweden, a newbie owner of a Stepcraft-2/420 machine, which is equipped with a Kress spindle and the UC100 CNC motion controller and UCCNC Control software. I will be using Autodesk Fusion 360 for design and/or Vectric Cut 2D for CAM.
My main interest is in módel aircraft and helicopters so at first I expect to do a lot of 2 1/2D work, e.g, wing ribs, formers etcetera.
This is my first venture into the world of CNC machining and I am enjoying the experience :-).

Hello Michael - welcome to the forum! 😉
Let us be a part of your "experience". Best way to do it would be to post A LOT of pics! B)
It's not only about tools it's also about skills! 😉
Welcome Michael!
Yes, pictures please 🙂 :woohoo:
Viele Grüße

Pictures will come as soon as i have manufactured something. Expect it to take some time since I am really a newbie when it comes to CAD/CAM and CNC-machining.
The machine I got was previously owned by a model flying friend of mine, who was recently deceased. Some important pieces of software was missing and I would like to thank Rory Stoney, ( http://stoneycnc.co.uk/ ), who went out of his way to help me out with all files, machine parameters and instructions needed to set up UCCNC for my 2-42, even though I am a complete stranger to him. Thank you Rory!
BTW, UCCNC is running on a DELL XPS13 laptob with Windows 10. Works like a charm 🙂

Don't worry about that - you are already in the right forum to get all the help what you need.
Take your time ... 😉
It's not only about tools it's also about skills! 😉
Success!
I have accomplished the "Hello World" of CNC machining 🙂
Using Autodesk Fusion 360 I draw a very simple shape. I saved it as a DXF file and imported it into Vectric Cut2D where I made a toolpath. For that I selected the "Mach 2/3 arc mm" postprocessor. The resulting G-code file was loaded into UCCNC where I had loaded the Stepcraft 2-420 machine parameters I got from Rory. After zeroing the machine I produced the shape, this time not with a spindle tool, but with a ball pen on paper.
It doesn't take much to make me a happy man 🙂

Hi Michael,
I am looking forward to be able to admire your works.
Wenn du heute nur das tust - was du gestern schon getan hast - dann bleibst du auch morgen nur da - wo du heute schon bist
