Hello,

Thanks to a forgotten pension and getting old enough to collect it(!), I am eagerly waiting to order my machine from Stoney CNC. I have had fantastic service from Rory with honest advice even when it has reduced the sale for Stoney CNC!

My planned setup is:
Stepcraft 840
HF 350 spindle
Vcarve pro
UCCNC
UC 100

I'm also interested with the drag knife and Hotwire cutter, any advice?

Not sure what I'm going to do with it but I can't wait to make sawdust!

Welcome to the forum!

So, now the planless count has increased to two people 😆 As per my knowledge all other members knew before what to use the Stepcraft for. But believe me, if you are creative enough you will find tons of things that you can do with your SC.

If you have a look into german subsection "Arbeiten der Anwender" you will find a lot of nice pictures showing what me and other did with the steppi. (Or filter for threads being started by me)

Hello hale2160,

I bought my "satsuma 420" from Rory at StoneyCNC too in August 2014, managed to do quite a few bits and pieces with it which you can find on this website in the "Show Us Your Creations" section.

Still working, currently making a shoe that will cover the laser and include a fume extraction system.

Happy crafting.

Hey, before I had the 'Steppi' I did also not know exactly what to do with it 😉

Anyhow, go for the HF500, that's only a small step but you will like it (as soon as you need lower speeds, harder material or deeper cuts).

The rest is completely OK, but think upfront if you want to use a vaccuum table and need a higher portal (I am not sure if 840 offers or has it).

:woohoo: Stepcraft 840 ordered!

All I have to do now is wait :side: and make some space in my workshop! I wonder if I could sneak it in the kitchen?

My final decision is on software, Vcarve Pro has gone up :pinch: but I've really got like the demo so I'll probably go with it.

If I can control myself and not dive straight in I'll try and do a build log. Watch out for lots of ruined materials!
