I certainly hope that, at a minimum, the adjustable spindle nuts being offered on the Black Edition will be made available to all users as an upgrade. In addition, the 3.5mm jacks should also be offered as an add-on part.

S2/600, Industrial HF spindle (StoneyCNC)
DL445, 4th axis, touch probe, 3D probe
UC100 + UCCNC (Win10)

I guess the development and integration of the split nuts is done. The question is, why they don't supply all new orange machines with split nuts as standard in the first place. Maybe Black Edition is synonymous for beta version? 😉

Thank you for teaching me, bvs. What's so difficult to adjust? You could use some shims and a torque wrench?

you will find out soon...
maybe the reason could be some screw lock liquid like Loctite or something similar...

the difference in adjustment between not enough and too much is quite small.
And it wont rest in that right place forever ...

Glue is ugly indeed. Maybe it's possible to counter the socket cap screw by means of a set screw at the back (when it can be reached, and the thread is going through), or by a small set screw that locks the bolt at its top end by an additional thread.

If that all fails:

CNC: WinPC-NC USB, Haase Cut2500 Pro

Anybody can give me a Hint about the 3,5mm Jack. I already was looking for one but never found any which would fit the hole. Anybody can give me a link or part number?

Hi-ya,
I’ve been back and forth with both Stepcraft and Rory about this.
The general consensus is that any 3.5mm jack plug will fit. I tried 2, 3 and 4 pole plugs, they all fit fine.

If you’re thinking of wiring up the tool length sensor the 2 pole (mono) plug is simple to wire up as it’s only got 2 terminals.
With the 3 and 4 pole plugs you’ll have to check UCCNC diagnostics to find the correct terminals.
Be aware, when you plug just the jack plug in, the ‘probe’ indicator will light up, when you find the two correct terminals it will go out.

I found wiring the jack plugs a bit fiddly for my hands, so I cut off a 3.5mm 3 pole plug from some crappy headphones and soldered the wires together (after testing which are the two correct wires of course), works great.

You can get the plugs from ebay for a couple of pounds.

Hello all,

To feed the topic :

I fitted the jack socket on my SC2 420 black edition.
The back of the front plate has been machined with a circular pocket to make the plate around the jack 3.5 fitting thinner.
Then, the jack barrel can be a very classical one.

Is this feature already machined on the "orange editions", or is it specific to the black edition? This is not shown on the assembly manual...

Gaël
