StoneyCNC have just added this video to their Youtube page, showing adjusting the X axis

I notice that only the easy two screws are replaced on the stepper - the other two are really awkward b*********s!!

SC 420/2, Industrial VFD spindle from StoneyCNC
UC100 + UCCNC
Cut2D, Autosketch10, Draftsight, Eagle 9.5.1

There is no problem, however simple, that cannot be made more complicated by thinking about it.

🙂 fine for demo and test - not essential to verify motion.
once happy two inner fellas can be tightened with care.

I am having a major issue with my X axis. I was cutting a simple profile of a bit of text (1/2"(15mm) MDF with a 1/4"(6mm) 2 flute upcut bit, 16000rpms, 1/8"(3mm) depth of cut passes, 60IPM(25mm per sec)) and the X axis rollers suddenly loosened quite a bit.
I followed Rory's excellent video suggestions for tuning my X axis, then ran another file. When the file was almost finished the X axis rollers again catastrophically loosened.
Does anyone have an idea of how I might resolve this issue?
Any assistance will be greatly appreciated.

IF rollers are loosening then use loctite threadlocker on them

have not come across this before. If you use loctite then super careful if you ever dissasseble as you need more force to remove bolts.

Before the Loctite (wot? no duct tape? ) experiment with using lock or spring washers in the fasteners concerned.

Clockwork Orange is a S600 with 4th axis, Kress 1050. Software is UCCNC, DeskProto, Rhino, DraftSight. Also a Silhouette Cameo for vinyl, plastic card, etc.

Thanks Rory, I'm going to get some loctite and give this a try.

make sure you use locktite nr 243 the blue one and not the red variant.

Blue will come lose after some torgue, red will stay fixed.

Yes, I'm familiar with the different types. Thank you for thinking to post this though, I do appreciate it.

MMorao, The screws in question are the ones that adjust the tension on the x-axis brass rollers. I think your suggestion would work with many of the other fasteners on the machine, but I couldn't think of anything that is readily available for this particular issue.
Thank you very much for your response.
