Took a photo after about 2 hours of total machine cutting time. I use NLGI class 2 lithium grease. Does this look normal or should I think about switching to another type/grade of grease?

Looks okay. We didn't grease out S420 V1 demo model at all and only used spray grease very infrequently and she it still going strong with no problems.

Just keep an eye and re apply when needed.

Thank you for answering Rory. I was a little worried about the pattern seen on the roller.

As long as the roller moves okay as the machine moves and there is grease at the interface its okay. Careful putting too much grease into the ballscrew spindles. Personally spray lubricant (light oil type) is best as it has the added benefit of cleaning when applied with spray head. The grease can attract more crud than do good.

Remembered that there already is a topic for discussing lubricants so jumped back to this thread. 🙂

I read some of the posts on lubricants and have elected to use the relatively new WD40 Specialist range of lubricants including the spray on lithium grease. The do a very light PTFE lubricant too. Both seem good so far.
