Laser Z Failing with Tool Length Sensor

I have both the laser unit as well as a tool length sensor. I find that the laser cannot be calibrated to zero out it's z height as there is a conflict with the tool length sensor. Initially, I could just hold down the tool length sensor button and the laser unit could be calibrated. That doesn't seem to work anymore - perhaps a new version of UCCNC.

Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the laser z to calibrate? I do see the suggestion of creating a plug for the tool length sensor and unplugging it, but I don't know if that works - regardless, I am in need of any ideas.
