New ATC (Automatic Tool Holder) Strategy?
Hi folks.
I'm after some input if you folks would be so kind.
I've been playing with the HF Automatic Tool Holder, and although it seems to have some good points it also seems to have some, lets say "interesting" design decisions that I just can't live with.
The major two are:-
(1) You can't use it with extraction, as it pulls the tool out of the side of the holder (as opposed to dropping it in the top) and the body of the extractor completely covers this area.
(2) The holder is really short so good for dinky tools only.
I propose something along these lines...
The intention is the tools will be:-
(a) Mounted up on pillars so the ATC can drop in from the top getting round the fouling from pulling sideways, thus alowing the use of the vac fitting.
(b) Taller and slotted for longer tools. (Pull up 25mm to clear the the nut on the ATC tool holder from the orange magazine position, and then out sideways through the slot if short of Z travel.)
(c) 3D printable / CNC-able.
Can anyone see a reason why this won't work?
Cheers,
