Hi, guys,

anybody has succeeded in using the tool changer? I´m trying to test the tool change but everytime I try it the spindle just goes up until it triggers the limit switch.

I tried changing the Z coordinates in the M6 macro. Tried negative and positive coordinates but all have the same result: triggering the Z limit switch.

Any help would be much appreciated...! 🙂

Thanks!

Hi,

can't really help you directly since I don't have the tool changer but what I know is, that all the macros are taken from MACH3 and not tested on UCCNC.

Some are working, some not. Another example is the tool lengh sensor. Here's a post where someone modified this macro: M31

I did that also some month ago for myself but that was a lot of work. You need to understand the UCCN macro language which is a little bit explained in a PDF file on your installation CD.

I dont know if that M31 macro helps to understand the function but maybe a little way it the right direction. So check your M31 macro and the modified one. Maybe it gives you an idea...

Hi, DocBrown,

many thanks for the reply! 🙂

I´m starting to think that I´m the only one that has the tool changer! 🙂

Well, my problem might be with this section:

double SafeZ = -20;
double Ztoolrelease = -98.2;
double Ztoolpickup = -98.2;
double Ytooloffset = -20; //STEPCRAFT tool position offset for Y
double Ztooloffset = -50; //STEPCRAFT tool position offset for Z

I can understand a bit of the programming and it´s the only place where we can define a safe Z height. The problem is that there is no value that I can use that doesn´t make the spindle go all the way up and trigger the switch.

I´m using machine coordinates so the Z value should be negative, right?

Anyway, thanks again for the reply!:)

My bad, DocBrown...

Had a Macro folder inside my UCCNC folder. But I have to modify the M6 macro inside the Macro folder in the Profile folder! Doh! Pretty dumb of me... should have read the manual sooner! Glad you suggested reading the manual! 😀

Thanks again for taking the time to reply! Really appreciate it! 😀

Well, not perfect but getting there! 😉 Now I just have to test the tool lenth sensor and I´m good to go!

I´m gluing a piece of wood to the table to increase the height of the tool magazine. It´s very short for some of the tools I´ll be using...

HI,

I am now where you were 4 years ago 😉

Tool changer + Tool sensor
Just bought UCCNC, moving away from WinPC-NC
Struggling to get things to work

Would you be willing to share your macro files for me to try to understand what's the difference so I can adjust?
Many thanks
Peter
