Speed Setting for 3D printing on slicer was created by bernardp
Hello everyone,
I finished my first 3D printing with stepcraft 2-300 and I m surprised about speed printing, it's a bit slow compared a standard printer.
My setting:
printing (all task: perimeters, infill, gap and bridge etc...): 15 mm/s or 900mm/min
travel, non working movement: 20 mm/s or 1200mm/min
acceleration: auto

Is it normal?
And you, what's your speed setting?

My software: Repetier - Slic3r

Hi there Bernard,

A little bit late, but it is normal. CNC milling machines are slower than 3D printers only machines. Milling machines need strength and accuracy in the movements, while the 3D printers only require accuracy. Hence, the torques required by milling machines are way larger than the ones for 3D printers. Thus, you cannot ask to have the same speed to a milling machine than a 3D printer only.
TIP: My setup with upgraded Y axis motors (no belt) is 20 mm/s.
