UCCNC Changing Z Zero point during wurde erstellt von Nordin
Hi

I just got up and running with VCarve Desktop and UCCNC this afternoon.
A lot to learn up but one thing that troubles me is that twice during routing the Zero Point for the Z Axis suddenly goes down with a cm. With a lot of smell of burned MDF and a very black V-cutter.
No change to the Y and Z axis.

Does any one else have experience of this?

I'm running Windows 7 on a 2008 iMac via Boot camp.
Works really nice and fast apart from this little issue.
There was no energy saving or screen saver active.

Any idea on what happened and how to fix it is much appreciated.

Martin

Check the Z axis is free to move and well lubricated. Its important the axis does not loose steps when the axis is retracted upwards.

Check the cutter is securely clamped into the cutter. We've seen the cutters vibrate out if not secured.

Finally - we just send you updated profiles for the latest release of the UCCNC software.

Well done getting your STEPPI going!

Check the wiring (motor to driverboard). A loose contact is quite common.

Turned out that it was user error! :(
It's all working fine now with the updated profiles.

Big thank you to Rory for all his help, and I'll keep Speedos suggestion in mind if it ever happens again.

I am having the same issue with my V1 S600.

I have the 2-600 only for two weeks and I am facing exactly the same problem and since the machine is brand new I guess the profiles are up to date. I have tested the movement of the Z-axis numerous times and it all seems to be ok.

I'm having this same problem. Though all axis are greased and move freely, and as far as I can tell, no steps are lost.
-Stepcraft 840
-VCarve Pro v10
Using a 60° V-bit on 1" pine, the ZERO point has readjusted itself 3x. I first established Z Zero using the sensor. After it adjusted itself the second time, I set it manually with the tip against the wood. I allowed the profile cut to go on for a while and watched as the Z Zero self adjusted upward again. So I set it manually again and it changed again, running the rest of the cut about 2mm above the board. Any ideas as to why this might be?
