Hello,

I want to buy a Stepcraft D.840 to make from wood (oak, or something similar) a wood sink.
In the picture from the attachment, you have the model which I would like to have.

The deepness of the milling would be around 80 - 90 mm, and the total height of the wood would be 120-125mm.

Do you think something like this is possible to be milled with SC?
Any idea about the time? Would be 400x600x80 mm.

If this is not possible to be made at this dimensions, can you tell me the max deepness of the milling process?

Thanks in advance,
Alex

I don't think so.
The maximum Z-distance is 140mm,
If you want to mill something 120mm high you need an appropiate endmill.
So the maximum material height would be 20mm.

You could mill a sink for a doll's house...

Ok!
Thanks.

What would be the maximum volume for such a proiect?

Thanks!

Alex,

Check out the various endmills (max mill depth & shaft lenght).

Max portal height is 140mm, dependig on spindel type (spindel locknut will be lower than max height) so 140 - locknut lenght.

So 140mm - locknut - endmill lenght is your minimal clearance to your workpiece.
Whats left is your max milling depth.

Best is to buy a sink:)

Thanks for your help.
But what I would like to know is that, based on your experience, how big is the “travel” distance...from the plane you start milling.
With a regular mill,

Thanks in advance,
Alex

I think too much for a STEPCRAFT. you would need big cutters and big depth...

STEPCRAFT Q better option

Hello, I think it is not as easy but In my point of view it’s not impossible.
You can do it in slices and glue it together, if you look at the example in your picture it is also done in two slices.
If you want to doe it in one piece you can try to remove the table from the SC so you’ll get some more height, but maybe you’ll lose some stiffness.
